The Memoir Project

For the Memoir Project students built boxes out of popsicle sticks to keep 5 objects that have sentimental value to them. The objects needed to be a photograph or drawing, something with writing on it, something that was a gift, something that represented a challenge, and something that represented someone that inspires them that was not their parents. Students shared in class with each other and wrote about each object and why it was significant. They then choose one or two objects to write a memoir, a small slice of their life. The picture here is my memory box and my items.
A photo graph of my two amazing children who mean the world to me, my ID card from UCLA, it is important to me because I was the first in my family to graduate from college, a piece of flint I collected when moving across the country to Austin, Texas was a huge challenge for me, my Eiffel Tower souvenir that was given to me by a dear friend when he visited Paris and finally, a button given to me by my Abuelita (my grandmother) at my grandfather's funeral.
